Anxiety and Walking Meditation - 5feb23

Fear can be exciting in VERY small amounts and for VERY short periods of time. But when it feels like you’re having a damn heart attack for hours, days, or weeks on end, go to the PCRM database and find an M.D. who practices psychiatry informed by the latest peer reviewed studies of whole food veganism. And while you’re waiting for your appointment you could meditate.

Just as a really good startle could interrupt the neurological processes driving persistent hiccups blending meditation with brisk walking could reset our autonomic nervous system and really take the edge off of your anxiety attacks.

As you enthusiastically inhale silently recite, “Notice this…” while allowing your mind to wander vulnerably, passively, viscerally, and spontaneously. Relaxingly exhale while mentally reciting, “accepting!” and do all this while striding around your block for twenty, forty, or even sixty minuets thus taming your anxiety as you meditate like a Jedi.
