Friend requests
are one of the many follies of Facebook.
For if a stranger reaches out,
yet the months go by
with nary a note, a comment,
a question, or a meme
then they haven’t really become a friend,
have they?
They’ve just become an audience member.
And audience members are great
if you have a group,
and wish to use it as a soap box
upon which to proclaim your answers
to all the world’s woes.
Life is short and friendships are rare.
They’re worth the trouble they take to cultivate.
Like the trouble a young Anakin took
to refurbish the protocol droid
he salvaged from a scrap heap.
