It’s good to give,
for as healthy mammals
that is literally what we are wired to do.
But that is not all we are wired for.
We are wired to perceive.
To perceive the world without,
and the world within.
In so doing
there will come times when we perceive
the limits of our own sustainability:
physical, and mental, and emotional.
Flowing in simplicity
we must heed, what Milarepa described
as the whispers of the Dharmakaya;
and what Qui Gon Jinn referred to
as the will of the force.
For to do otherwise is to court disaster.
